Drew Estate Event Recap-Smoke Inn, Port Saint Lucie

So far in my short career as a cigar blogger, I’ve met a lot of cigar reps and my fair share of cigar manufacturers and one thing doesn’t surprise me anymore; the fact that 99% of them are cool as hell!  Co-Founders Jonathan Drew (yes, he really wears goggles.), Marvin Samel and rep Jason Louie from Drew Estate came up and got dirty with the PSL Crew. Now I had met Marvin the week before at Abe’s 40th Birthday, so I knew how awesome of a guy he was, but all I knew of Jonathan Drew is what I saw on his Facebook videos (Jon, we’re still waiting on the instructional video on how to drive your rental car!). Let me just say that Jonathan is one of the coolest guys I have ever met. They both took the time to talk to everyone like they have been friends for years. It’s a refreshing change from your run of the mill celebrities.

Now as far as the event itself, it was epic, right up there with Cinco de Mayor. Now this event was rather special for the simple reason that if you bought a box and took advantage of the 25% off special, you had the option of buying 5 Feral Pigs (review coming soon), one of the newest smokes in the limited edition Liga Privada line, which I took full advantage of!  To make it even better, I was able to get both Marvin and Jon to autograph my Feral Pig box.

Now it wouldn’t be an event in the Pizzle if it was just about the cigars. A big thank you to Chef Bill Santos, who cooked up some awesome lamb, chicken and meatballs that were spectacular. DJ Mattie Ice had jams streaming through the speakers that set the mood while the birthday girl Lady M tended bar with exceptional skill. Lastly, in what is becoming an event tradition, the Mayor’s own mom, Chef Sharman Mullins baked a scrumptious cookie cake for the event. Thanks Madre, you’re the best!

The event also saw many prizes given out. Two pewter Liga Privada ashtrays were awarded along with many sampler packs, cutters hats and other goodies, but fortunately the grand prize was won by an Irregular. The Joya de Nicaragua humidor gift box full of hats, cigars, cutters and the like was one by Smoke Inn, PSL Irregular and the Mayor’s Director of Beer Matt Blake, who Tebowed in his victory celebration.

Now there are two people I must mention before I close out this recap. First off, founding member of the Irregulars Terry Wilson made an appearance at the event last night. It’s always good to see Terry, who serves as the Mayor’s Attorney General, when he’s not on a budget. Also my good friend Danny Boyd made it down from Georgia this week for the event and managed not to sit in the beer cooler (see Cinco de Mayo video). Good job Danny and happy birthday!

Finally, I would like to give a big shout out to Matt the Manager, Angry Steve and Scooter. You guys really know how to put on awesome events and do an outstanding job, all the time. That closes this recap of the Drew Estate Event. Next up is Room 101 hosted by Matt Booth in March, but until then Happy Smoking!
